Stealing Horses at La Jara
Dan Loop climbed into his buddy’s truck. It is -5 degrees and the wind is pounding southward down the San Luis Valley like a herd of runaway longhorns. The two are going down to La Jara to steal two horses—really, it is re-steal. Someone else has stolen the horses, and Loop is helping his buddy get his own horses back. But the thieves don’t give up easily, and a race between a pickup pulling a horse trailer and a snowmobile is in the making.
